Founded in the 15th century by Prince Olakanmi of Old Oyo, Oro emerged from destiny guided by the Ifa oracle. What began as a migration during a chieftaincy dispute became the birth of a resilient and industrious community.
Our founding was marked by a divine sign — the presence of Oro trees (Igi Oro), Agbigbo birds, the rhythmic sound of mortar pounding, and the clang of blacksmiths’ tools. Upon discovering these signs, Olakanmi declared:
"Ibi ti Ifa ni a ro niyi" — This is where Ifa said we should settle.
From that moment, Oro was established — not by accident, but by destiny.
